Without our labor, political power is worthless. No elected officials are coming to our rescue. Organized Labor is our only hope. Everything that has happened in the past 200 days is an attack on workers, retired workers and working g class people.
The only times I held a job that significantly improved my quality of life, or my health and safety, were more important than profit was when I belonged to a labor union. There is no red or blue, no black or white, no immigrant or citizen. We are all the exploited without labor unions.

The way I think about it, unions help to level the playing field between workers and employers. This is partly because it's harder for workers (esp with children &/or a working spouse) to pull up roots to take a non-local job than for an employer to hire workers from outside the local labor pool.
One could, perhaps, think of this as a difference in elasticity wrt distance (to prospective employers or to prospective employees, respectively).
Donald Trump cares about workers rights! That's why he wants to reduce the number of holidays people have. Or why he makes tax cuts that primarily benefit the rich. And it's why he terminated Department of Labor grants that gave money to non-profit organizations that reduced human trafficking.
