It's because it's an artificial fear/controversy.

Texas, god damn Texas, the red crown jewel, was a place where changing documents was easy if you had $300. You could be obviously trans in rural parts and be mostly safe! No one cared! We were just strangers or neighbors or friends.

And being trans and a minor was awful, especially if you had bad parents, but at least with good parents healthcare was possible! It took time as every ‘specialist’ questioned your confidence in yourself, but you could live your life.

Lie after lie after lie have made these things controversial, but it’s all foundation built on quicksand. And it’s going to sink.

If you call yourself an ally don’t build on this horrible wreck. Take a sledgehammer to the walls! Help us. Call out those who would help support this awful hate. Transphobes want you to believe the quicksand is concrete as it sinks beneath them.
