A couple of years ago, I travelled to Victoria with my sister & her partner ~ we tried to tell him he had to ask for potato cakes, but he insisted on asking for scallops ~ so the Greek lady running the shop gave him sea scallops ~ the look on his face was priceless ๐คฃ Never argue with the Greek Mama!
I live in Victoria now in the Mallee and our Persian fish & chip calls them potato cakes but doesnโt make Latke. In WA they are likely to tell you the potato cakes are sold out as they hate Victorians so much, mainly football related
They hate anyone from the โeastern statesโ! Nothing to do with football, goes back to when gold was discovered.
Yep our wealth was stolen and called the Cinderella state. But stealing our football players for the VFL intensified the hatred and it is hatred.
