Watching a report on Chinese EV's where one commentator after the next whinges that China is 'cheating' and 'unfair' because the state controls capital investments instead of monopolist hedge funds and banks. "How very dare they?!?!?!?!" They chose a good car industry and - poof - they got one

I really wish we had access to Chinese EVs in the American market. They seem far more appealing than our current options.

Americans could benefit from the PRC's technological advances in high speed rail and electric cars.

We do the same shit with Cars. American Carmakers just don't want to rapidly transition to EVs and squander the subsidies on gas vehicles. It's why they've lobbied so hard to keep competition out and air dirty for kiddos.

the difference is american subsidies are sacred rights that come to our leaders via divine inspiration and the chinese do it in the most barbaric, inhuman way possible: committee consensus.

Also, renewable energy instead of coal and gas. How evil are the mothers?

If they really think state control over capital investments is giving Chinese companies an advantage (whether it's "unfair" or not), why can't they take their complaints to their logical conclusion and figure out that western style capitalism has failed, at least in terms of EV manufacturing.

I love how you mention the car industry. I talk to so many Americans who want cheap simple vehicles, like a Toyota Helix, but the American companies won’t bring them over. Apparently, freedom to choose products that create less profit for the corporations, is unacceptable.

China has invested in its infrastructure, it doesn’t need to cheat to create better products than the West.

Gini coefficient for China is now worse than that of the US.

Not glorifying China, just pointing out that they have state control of capital decisions

Yes but who controls the state?
