I get the whole "Don't use AI" and "make a stand!" thing, because that's how we think politics works, don't like something then boycott it. What people don't see is that its spreading through the net like a virus, being incorporated into all the websites and apps. It like trying to boycott fuel.
I think it's more possible right now to take AI down a peg much more than fuel -> it's not yet ubiqitious, it's easily notable, and it's so universally hated (for art, to a much lesser extent writing). I do think there still is time before it'd like fuel
We actually do have time and some of the resources to migrate away from the AI slop. We can move to FOSS social media and set up our own email services (Proton's code is open source for example). We can just write our own apps to get away from them, even design our own chips if necessary.

Yep. They're putting it in everything. Some of the worst software I'm forced to use (like zoom) integrated in their app and you have no ability to turn it off. If you use big tech email, your email is training their AI. Soon you won't be able to buy milk without it coming with AI.

It's a technological revolution, a resource greedy one that enables capitalism to make even larger profits much more quickly, so it's become as self promoting as the printing press or steam engine. Trying to block it is beyond futile, focus on the real enemy; capitalism
