I don't deny they always put in their manifesto that they support an independent Scotland. But they do little to advance the cause of independence. We're at a point where it's not optional. It's essential if we are to keep our rights & rejoin the EU. As Westminster parties want to copy Trump.
The best anyone can do at the moment is to make lives better in Scotland and show how, with independence, we could do even more. There is no legal path to a referendum at the moment, so we just need to keep the pressure up by electing pro-independence majorities.
I disagree. A thought occurs. So, for autocrats, dictators, and colonies to fall, history shows us that all it takes is 3.5% of the population to wage a sustained movement of civil disobedience In Scotland, that would be just 200K people Now, if we assume that Westminster is never going to grant..
... Scotland the right to self-determination (in the form of an Indy Ref), and as has happened over recent years, all legal mechanisms have been exhausted. We as a country are left with few options. The above conditions having been met negates any argument that Scotland is anything other than...
... a colony (or more specifically a neocolony). That being the case, our options become: *Use Scottish elections as a defacto indy ref. While this was suggested before, there was never a concerted movement by the SNP or Greens to make that happen. At this point, a majority for independence...
... in the Scottish Parliament could declare we are an independent country. This option has its issues. In that, the UK would never recognise us as independent, and we may fail to get international support. However, if: * We get international support * If we have a large sustained...
...social movement * If action is taken not only in UK & International courts (invoking UN rights to self determination) At the point when lawful routes are blocked - which let's be real, we know they will be. * Non-violent mass movement becomes more relevant...
... This brings me back to the 3.5% (200k people for Scotland). Sustained activism could exert pressure on Westminster. Just imagine if they proscribed a non-violent independence movement as terrorists. That would inflame things and, I think, give even more weight to our already...
... valid argument. Especially in international eyes. General strikes, protests, symbolic unilateral declarations, and international pressure on Westminster. Given the lack of momentum, even though 56% of the population want independence & that grows when Farage is mentioned, I think the above
... is worth serious consideration. We need independence, Westminster attacks our economy, erodes devolution, ignores Scottish courts, overturns our laws, and it's only moving further right .
