They extended the pilot once, why couldn't they have done it again? Or... why did they not just scrap them for good last year! It would have saved workers hundreds of pounds whilst Westminster had been hammering them, proving the need for independence.

Perhaps the funds had to be found, you can’t just do that in the middle of a budget year.

The government regularly do that. That's how we managed to get teachers, train drivers and nurses record pay deals. The SNP could have taken money from the roads budget to fund this.

The Greens have the right ideas, but lack the pragmatism to get the support they need to do anything but carp from the sidelines, unfortunately. Perhaps after Indy they might act more like the rest of the European Green movement.

Hundreds of millions are spent on unnecessary road building projects. Building bigger roads doesn't cut congestion; getting people out of cars does, and you do that by cutting the cost of public transport.
