I think as artists we’re trained to believe ‘you should be thankful if you get paid to draw’ But I think we should also acknowledge it’s ok to be sad or even resentful a bit, if you’re paid to draw but not necessarily what you WANT to draw.

100%. I love painting and I am extremely grateful when I sell one. Lot of work, lots of time. I love the process it keeps me sane. Working to a deadline, painting something that doesn't interest me? You'd have to be paying top dollar. Wouldn't be fun anymore

For me anyway it’s not 100% no fun, but given a choice there are other things I would rather draw. But I also like being able to pay for such luxuries like food and a roof over my head, so oh well 🫠

Well, obviously art for kids has to be SFW. If you seriously wanted to consider it, it wouldn’t hurt to have a separate account for your SFW stuff. There are several children’s literature organizations with info that may be helpful, largest of these is SCBWI

This me just being sad that my idiot OCs make me the grand total of $0, versus what I have been making the past few years from kids books. (I don’t hate drawing kids books at all, but it just makes me a lil sad that that’s how the cookie crumbles)
