Callender hasn't played much this year, had injuries, and is in $300-400k a year for a backup goal keeper close to his prime years. In a way it's good for Callender and Miami to get a clean slate, and also a bit bad as well since he's still a back up, but maybe has a chance at the starting spot.
Yes, he absolutely needed a move and Miami can always use more cap flexibility, I mostly don't get what's in it for Charlotte unless they know something we don't about Kahlina or about the league GK market more broadly
Good competition for Kahlina and a good trade chip for next year. Never a bad idea to be deep going into the playoffs with a keeper that can be great at penalties.
