POTUS cannot declare war without the approval from Congress. If THIS isn’t the final straw for impeachment and removal from office, then I’m actually really concerned. I’ve been concerned, but I haven’t been *this* concerned yet. This is going to be so bad. Like catastrophic if he’s not removed.

The problem is Congress hasn't "declared" war since 1942. I don't know how that works. Did Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Persian Gulf, Afghanistan, etc... not happen?

Congress did approve most of those actions, at least in some part, even though no formal war declarations were made. Korea is the most notable exception. Congress has been reluctant to wrestle with the implications of modern capabilities and what it means to be at war vs a quick military strike.

Ugh yeah that tracks. I’m still learning. I didn’t know that about previous wars. Thank you for sharing that knowledge with me.

I didn't until yesterday. It makes no sense. I can see the strike to kill Osama as an event that waiting for Congress to approve would have been a possiblity to ruin the mission but yeah all the rest don't make sense.
