A truth many people here don't want to hear, but the best political choice would be Newson or Shapiro atm. Do you want to win or not? Sad but true: America will not vote for women or homosexuals.

Have you seen Newsom's poll numbers? Just looking at the data, he is absolutely not a good political choice. He is incredibly unpopular. He has a much worse net-favorability rating than Trump, Vance, Biden, and Harris. ⬇️
Here's my theory Newsom and Buttergieg are lightrods. Also is not a coincidence after a mood tour post John Stewart, Josh Shapiro has been protected and blinded. I think Shapiro is the real candidate but they want to avoid the mistakes of "implicit" imposition like happened with Clinton and Harris
Avoiding media wear and backlash from WH and other groups. Then in late 2026 he will appear step by step post re-election. Will he be elected (key word)? I don't know, but he looks the preferred one from mainstream since that Bezos poll where Shapiro was the frontrunner.
Yep. I’m 70+ and would love to see a woman or LGBTQ president. But the important thing in 2028 is winning the presidency and IMO the best way to do that is to nominate a moderate, middle-ish aged white man.
The establishment says this every primary season and we end up with a fucking terrible candidate. How about we shut up about demographics in the shadow of the first Black President that had the same exact things said about him and let different policy shine through?
No matter the message, if it’s delivered by the “wrong” person it won’t make a difference. And what was terrible about Kamala?
People said Obama was the wrong person until he won Iowa. Kamala was highly unpopular, couldn’t separate herself from unpopular Biden (if she even had the choice), and proposed policy that doesn’t fix the root causes of our institutional problems. I still voted for her.
If Dems don’t come up with policies that hit home and that people understand, it really won’t matter who they nominate.
It's not easy to admit that as a lib. The world isn't fair. I'm German, and I can only advise you that the opposition must consolidate at all costs and nominate the best mainstream candid. Those who stubbornly insist on their ideals will do so until their downfall. Well, that's at least consistent.
Then find another straight white man because those 2 suck.
That’s not the truth at all. Folks won’t vote for an empty suit. You point to demographics despite the party running the same losing platform against a known liar and conman
Everyone said that about a Black man until he won. You make excuses to run the most boring folks with an out-of-touch platform again we’ll see how it goes I guess 🤪
You don't think the voters are to blame, who keep falling for the same tricks from the conman despite everything that we know about him and all of the warnings that have been repeated over and over? It's easy to blame the candidates instead of looking at ourselves.
At the end, political parties raison d'etre is winning elections and also communicating messages while involving the grassroot effort. Even if you blame the first thing to voters, the other points lie exclusively in the same party. So it's a two way avenue of blame here.
1. The definition of a leader is someone who takes the blame’s for failures too, so yes they are 2. Blaming voters will help us win again how? 3. Do you want a hand written apology or can we move forward with trying to rebuild this country? It’s okay to expect more. Stop excusing mediocrity
I would say a very big chunk of voters probably don't know what inflation *really* is and why inflation occurred. They just see the current state of the economy and blame whoever is in charge. Trump took advantage of this, frightening them a bout the economy and many voters didn't do their research.
Well, every campaign makes mistakes. There are things that can be improved sure, I don't deny that. Every voter should be putting effort in researching the issues. When Trump says Biden is the cause of inflation and Trump will fix it, voters should be looking into this to see if that is even true
Now you're appealing to the voters' common sense. I remind you that these voters have once again elected a psychopathic, complete idiot as president who tells such ridiculous lies and such nonsense that no sane person could possibly bear it. And still...
Yes, it's mindboggling. You have to wonder how much better a candidate needs to be to beat this, because I think despite some mistakes, Kamala was still a strong and highly qualified candidate. I was certain going into that election that Kamala had it won.
It's unfortunate to say this but if you are a woman running for president, you automatically put yourself at a disadvantage, no matter how strong of a candidate you are. Many voters simply do not want a woman leading the country.
I don’t mean any offense to this at all. I went into the election thinking that Kamala was highly qualified despite not enjoying her entire platform. I still knew she could lose. I am from a rural area and could see the unpopularity shine through despite Biden’s legislative agenda.
There is a HEAVY dislike of anyone who is associated with the D brand even among folks who dislike Trump. I don’t call them out-of-touch as an insult, it’s what they are compared to a good portion of the country that they could be winning over.
There have been groups doing research on statistical anomalies in the 2024 Election such as Election Truth Alliance and Smart Elections (who has filed a recount lawsuit in Rockland County, NY). You may want to check them out.
I wasn't suggesting there was something fishy with the election results. I know it's just more people that were misled and fell for the con.
That is fine. Just letting you know that these organizations exist.
That group is a sham that has presented no concrete evidence outside of statistical buzzwords surrounding the fact that there was less D turnout overall. That lawsuit isn’t finished and has a plausible explanation for the precinct in which it is taking place. Stop spreading misinformation
Also even the same people mentioned if somehow wins the lawsuit (Which is far from granted) has no real effects beyond proper recomendations and warnings for the next elections. That lawsuit is almost like Blue QAnon.
Parties are suppose to inspire folks to turn out, not the other way around. Elected officials work for us and any excuse to put the onus on voters who have plenty of other shit to deal with in their life without being guilt-tripped by chronically online political commentators
I didn't say that. I said what would probably be the best choice, considering the real political circumstances. Real politics eludes our wishes and ideals. It simply is what it is. Drawing the best conclusions from this does not mean blaming anyone.
It's just my opinion atm. Obama was black (I apologize for the words but maybe not "too black"), but a heterosexual man. That makes a difference for many people, whether latent or conscious.
I understand unconscious bias, but again, folks say the same exact thing until it happens. And for the other leading option to be Gavin Newsom who can hardly debate DeSantis himself is laughable. The D’s are out-of-touch. Demographics aren’t a solution.
Newsom is an empty suit. Pass. And this is someone who voted for him twice and voted no on the recall.
I like Shapiro as Governor but it’s time for Pete Buttigieg.
