I think that’s naivety on your part (sorry). Trump just spewed the words to seem as though that’s what he was doing. Meanwhile, he’s showing Putin’s doppelgänger around an American military facility. Trump will be meeting with Zelenskyy today, & again, it will be more lies.
We have already seen extra tariffs for India which shows that there has also been other kind of drivers than just idolizing of Putin. Trump gave quite different statements for example on cease fire before he met Putin. Putin is a master of manipulating and it should not be underestimated.
