I absolutely hate this new YouTube thumbnail A/B testing crap, because it doesn't keep a consistent thumbnail on each video for you; it's a random one each time. So I keep thinking "Is this a new video? but it's about the same thing as that one I already saw... ah, ffs, it's that again"
I could be wrong but I am pretty sure this has been a thing for years, YouTubers just need to manually set it
You've always been able to change it but now you can add multiple thumbnails to the same video at once, and then get stats about which ones get what % of clicks.
yes, thats what i mean - im fairly certain i heard about that feature a long time ago already.
I think they trialled it with a handful of big channels for a while, but now everyone can do it and it sucks. And some channels manually change/changed thumbs/titles a lot, especially if a video isn't doing as well, as they care a bit too much about numbers and growth, heh.
I've seen it a couple of times where they first try some quite experimental one, apparently it then fails, and then they do the kind of thumbnail they typically do
Saw one that put 2025 in the thumbnail but the video was 6 years old. False advertising at best.

I go straight to my subscriptions video page and see if they have a new video. If not I move to the next person I'm subbed to... and so on. The blue dots ...
... used to make it easy to know when a new video had dropped but these days it usually means a new shart used stained the site. I'm not fan of the shart content.

Basically rewrites titles to remove clickbait, changes thumbnails etc.
Doesn't seem like the kind of thing that'd work well enough via crowdsourcing, but that's what I thought about sponsorblock in the first place... But sponsorblock is the best extension ever lol
Dark mode, and even then it was a part of a worse layout change overall
