The children who survived the shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis on Wednesday are now part of a group that numbers nearly 400,000: America’s children who have been exposed to gun violence at school. These children often deal with anxiety and grief to guilt and shame.
And extra guilt and shame because they are Catholic.
Bingo! They've already dealt with more guilt and shame than any human should ever have.
So glad (not really) that when it happened at my son's school, he had already graduated. Another preventable shooting with all of the red flags that were present well before it happened.

What a staggering number
This is why I do not like when they are lauded as heroes due throwing their bodies on each other. The body/brain responds to trauma in a myriad of ways. We should not create complexes for kids who peed themselves, froze, didn’t know what to do, etc.
Add teachers to that mix too. I’d be devastated if I could not save one of my students and yet it’s unreasonable I’m expected to.
