Inflation doesn’t affect the wealthy. *As always*, the top 10%-ers carry the entire U.S. economy as Republicans crash it for the 90%.

Nobody seems to understand this. In fact, inflation is a godsend for wealthy debtors. The value of their non-cash assets increase, and the money they use to pay for it decreases in value over time. It’s a problem for wage earners; every paycheck is worth less than the last one.

Exactly. The only way to survive inflation is to own assets. For the people who have no asset, even if you have cash, the money printer is killing you…

the value of their non-cash assets only increases while there's still someone who can afford to buy them. then, suddenly, "poof!" breadlines and skyscraper base-jumping.

Deflation is almost completely unknown, but is a genuine risk after “proof!”

That would be why the stock market is performing so well, even with the obvious economic slowdown?

this is why every pay round should ALWAYS cover the inflation over the intervening period. And must include all cost to the employee so none of the inflation indices are adequate , in fact they are all designed to under report inflation.

It’s very hard to measure inflation, and impossible in real-time; if you were writing a union contract I’m not sure how that could be implemented. Our “system” is designed to work “best” when there is a small amount of inflation to goose demand, and if it’s unvarying it can be “planned” for.

they don’t carry it, they make profits by buying up property from the 90% when they go bust. In the end the 10% own EVERYTHING cause they got it in a fire sale!
