I don't think they are smart enough for it to be an act, honestly. The patterns of behavior are similar enough that it seems ingrained. A mix of deep opportunism, moral vacuity, and over-confidence about one's intellect.

You can see with people like Vance that it's an act because he has let his guard down at times over the years. But not LL.
