If you want to crusade against planned obsolescence, you should pick another product. I’ve gotten five years out of every iPhone I’ve bought, as Apple has supported them with OS updates for at least that long. And you can charge it with a cheap-ass cable available at any convenience store.

even 5y is too low. not promoting Android here (I despise Google), but did get 8y out of my Pixel XL. I'd still be using it but the battery gave out & fixing it is more than the phone is worth (it's also bent & horrifically scratched up from my son driving it around on the floor when he was 2)

Wow, 5 whole years for a $1500 phone. Amazing. Going on year 9 with my Android.

Speaking of updates… Apple has a ridiculously good track record of device support. While people like to point out Google & Samsung are now giving 7 years of updates. Apple was beating that 10 years ago with 7 years of OS updates plus several more of security updates.

Yes. I’m still using my Watch 6. It’s good as new. Does everything I need. Still gets updates. And I would imagine longer updates got a lot easier when Apple ditched Intel.
