Probably a mix. Many of them don't want to admit their underlying racism and anti-Blackness that exists within themselves. Truth is, that is what usually shuts down any progressive labor or social movement. Dr. King and others pointed that out for a reason.

Obviously some unions are much more integrated than others (IIRC West Coast longshoremen are better than their East Coast counterparts). I think "Obama was supposed to make racism go away" is a common enough white cope but really these guys want to vote for the dad who refuses to ask for directions.

Also misogyny and misogynoir. Teamsters hated Kamala because she's Black, because she's a woman, and because she's a Black woman. And they don't care about public sector unions because they're disproportionately Black, disproportionately women, and disproportionately Black women.

A handful of black coworkers voted for Trump too. The misogyny is a big factor. And for some frustrating reason everyone got really scared of “woke-ism.” I’m embarrassed to work there.

Multiple 24/7 news systems attacking "woke" can't help.
