2/3 of nursing homes patients are funded through Medicaid. Medicaid provides lifesaving care. If people lose coverage because of Medicaid cuts, they’ll be forced to go to the emergency room. This is going to be a lot more expensive. Hospitals will shut down.
And given our current demographics, our elderly population (many dependant on nursing home) is growing rapidly and so will our homeless population as this takes effect.

My grandfather was on Medicaid for many years. Nursing homes are so expensive, this happens to many people. Maga seems to think people are on it because they want to be. When they are on it because there is no choice.
Medicaid covers the part of a nursing home that Medicare can't cover. I looked it up yesterday. Nursing facilities cost between 8K and 10K A MONTH. Nobody I know on SS gets 8K a month.

My daughter survived the worst case or H1N1 imaginable. She lost her right lung and is a wheelchair bound functional paraplegic. Medicaid covers the $10K a month for her group home care. I tried to care for her for 2 years and it almost broke me.

My father-in-law lived the final years of his life in a nursing home that accepted Medicaid. If he had been forced out because of Medicaid cuts and had moved in with my wife and me, our marriage would not have survived.

After that - the secondary (usually Medicaid) picks up the 20% copay. With Medicaid cuts many people will be going home early because they can’t afford to pay that 20% out-of-pocket. Which is going to spiral into a revolving door because they’re being sent home before they are 100% (con’t)

My 84 yr old neighbor gave up her rented town house of 20 years to go into a nursing home because she needs dialysis 3x per week. Her autistic son can no longer handle the level of care she needs. He had to move into a "boarding home". What will happen to her if they cut her medicaid?

Umm. Private for profit hospitals are already shutting down in rural areas around the country. Many of them are not old buildings either. Owners took government funds to build then closed up most of the buildings.

A relative of mine is in a nursing home because he has schizophrenia & there is no where else he can live. There are no longer mental health facilities. His housing and medicine are paid for with Medicaid, after using up all of his former assets. There are many like him. No $$, no meds, no home
Remember MAGA kids; if your state has filial responsibility law, most do, and Medicaid stops, you either pay for parents care or stop working and take them in. Most states allow long-term care providers to sue you for payment. Others make failing to care for a parent a criminal offense. 🐆 meet 😬
