Dennis - the small business I worked for after retirement in my red state every single employee was on ACA since she didn’t offer insurance.. including the owner who like yourself had pre-existing conditions.. Only ACA & Medicare/Medicaid do not allow insurance companies to deny coverage.

Also when I worked at Verizon most of the contractors I spoke with that didn’t have company provided insurance also used the ACA to obtain theirs.. ACA requires a minimum income of 15k single ( and increases by family size) to participate.. Those under can only get Medicaid

This is our story, too! Our family was able to get coverage with the ACA when my husband started his own business. I don’t know what we would have done without the ACA.

As a former president who knows the ins & outs of that position - a person who is highly regarded by millions as a leader - he should speak up about the fascist takeover (WHY isn’t he?). His voice still holds power; he can give insight & hope in a time of fear, heartbreak, & hopelessness for many.

During Harris's run, Obama did everything he could to help motivate people to vote. We have no idea what's going on behind the scenes. It may be in his best interest, and ours, for him to keep his mouth shut (for now). Trump will probably revoke his security detail, like he's done to the others.

I recognize all that, so I ask the question “Why?” isn’t he speaking up. It’s possible that many Dems who should be speaking up aren’t bc they’re concerned w their own/their family’s safety, as well as any possible skeletons in closets that they don’t want exposed by trump. Sad, but maybe true.

I agree that the current Dems throughout the country should be speaking up. I sure as shit would be. And the Repubs should be doing the same. As should the ex and current military leaders. Are they all scared? Trump rules with threats and intimidation but all together they could take him down.

And he just joined Bluesky! That is a step in the right direction to get his voice in the game.💙

People need to take a step back and realize that he's also only one person. And human. And let him know he's welcome. Guess they've never heard the saying, "you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar." I wouldn't blame him if he didn't post again.

For years, the best advice for artists and artisans has been “don’t quit your day job”, or “move to Canada”. No matter how wildly successful you were as a musician, potter, painter, sculptor, actor, before ACA you were one bad mammogram away from losing everything. Our culture is richer for ACA.

The ACA allowed me to retire at 63; otherwise I couldn’t have afforded health insurance coverage. With the ACA, my monthly bill for health insurance was less than $90.

I was diagnosed in 2013 with stage 3 breast cancer. I had just applied for the ACA and it covered my treatments of radiation and chemotherapy and numerous surgeries. Thank you President Obama and the ACA for saving my life. 💕
