I've been defending Brutalism forever and glad more and more people started showing appreciation abt a decade ago. Some of those buildings in old Iron states are mindblowing.

Right? Opponents of brutalism seem to think that there's some other alternative that governments and corporations will consider that isn't just plain boxes. But inevitably, it's just... plain concrete boxes.

Love it! Never been to the former USSR myself, sadly, but we did go to Cuba, and they have their own unique take on brutalism. Every bus shelter was a unique construct, like an art placement. The hotel we stayed at was originally a Soviet workers vacation retreat, looked like a giant Transformer!
Whoa. Same, haven’t been further east than Slovenia myself. Did stay in a hotel in former east Berlin that was pretty much unchanged since before reunification and it was wild in there. Bucket list: the torres blancas apartments in Madrid...
My dream visit right now would be to see the Monumento Buzludja in the mountains of Bulgaria:
Wow, yes. Those architects could really work it.
