🧵 Cranberries & Dave Mathews outdoor concert, mid 90's, I'm late and supposed to intro the bands. Traffic backed up for miles, I'm in a bright yellow Jeep w/our station logo going in the median, down the shoulder, whatever. People honking, waving, screaming & flipping the bird. But I made it.
Few minutes backstage chit chatting, then right out to intro them & start the show. Intro'd each but kept going back out in the audience to enjoy, as usual. Awesome show. Next day the station is absolutely flooded with phone calls about that a-hole in the Jeep. 😳
Program Director went through the roof shouting at me when I got in. 😖 When I left his office the station owner stepped out of his, came up to me and said... "That was the best damn marketing we've had in a long time! Let me take you to lunch." 😳😎
