I've been re-reading some sci-fi books from the 80s I really liked but my tastes have obviously changed. Plus I notice how sexist so many of the books are.

The Left Hand of Darkness or The Lathe of Heaven are my favorites. She has others that seemed more targeted at children - The Earthsea Series
