Flu is by no means a mild illness. Sometimes it ends up being a life ending illness and it’s a roll of the dice for those that die.

Sorry for the loss of the friend. But that doesn’t change that for young healthy adults, flu is not a serious life threatening illness with rare exceptions. Covid is the same way

Covid deaths in 2023 dropped to a similar death rate as the flu. For healthy adults, it’s not much worse than “the sniffles”. I have a greater chance of dying in a car wreck on the way to work. Why are we still going on about this when it’s nearly 2025? Are you still locked down in your house?

I have a relative that's had covid 3 times in 3 years (no vaxx, no mask) and it's always been like a bad flu, never just the sniffles.

Was your relative fine after a few days? That’s my experience

He was very sick for at least a week. And he now has a *heart issue* that showed up after covid. We don't know what caused it but I wouldn't be shocked if covid partly caused it.

Obviously you don’t work in healthcare else you would ask yourself why young people are dying of strokes and heart attacks a few years after being infected with COVID. But no matter. I gave up caring after witnessing the selfishness of my fellow Americans.

I’ve had flu patients to end up needing cardiopulmonary bypass. Flu is no joke. Especially for those with asthma or emphysema.
