I'm giving the album another listen through and I'm coming to realize I love five out of ten tracks which isn't as terrible as I originally thought. There are some tracks that, yeah are skips for me :(. I'm happy that others connect with it! This one hasn't spoken to me like the others have.
I think a lot of the songs have the ability to grow on me. A few more listens will tell. It's easy to fall into a trap of having a couple favorite songs from a band and getting your hopes up a new album will be 10 Square Hammers or Witch Images in a row, but that's just setting yourself up ya know?
No disagreement! I respect the hell out of any artist or band for branching out and expanding their horizons, so no hate toward TF at all. I think it just wasn't what I was expecting, which I recognize is me projecting lol... Missilia Amori is amazing, the singles, and I love De Profundis too!
I do like all the singles. I think Guiding Lights and Cenotaph are my favs of the rest of them. Everyone seems to have at least one song they really enjoy, so that's good 😁
There is something for everyone on this record, which I love. It's definitely not a bad album by any means. And you can tell TF poured his heart into this one. Am I a little disappointed? Yes but those are just feelings and over time I may change my mind. Ghost is still the best regardless 🖤.
