I was just trying to think what it would take to get me back in the door at Target. There's one cleaning product I miss, but otherwise I don't really miss a store that I used to go to regularly. Ousting the CEO is a start but it's not enough. Massive apologies and reparations might do it.

Target’s letting us all assume the CEO is being ousted because abandoning DEI was bad for business, but it doesn’t seem like Target has actually made that explicit in any way.

Yup. I didn't go very often, and I was good about buying only what I went in to buy. I don't foresee a day when I'll be *glad to go back to Target.

Which cleaning product? I have replaced my old fav from there with something much better.

I really liked the lavender spray cleaner. You can even refill the spray bottle with a little packet. There are 70 million Other spray cleaners and I'll be fine, but I do miss that one particular thing.

Ahhhh...mine was the shower spray! And yeah I miss just popping in for the odd small utensils.

I went in last week for the first time due to back to school looking for a specific item. They didn’t have it so I left. But the store was messy and the home section (my fave) had literally the same merch as November 2024. Nothing new or appealing. I don’t miss it now

Hey; they chose their store name themselves. They shouldn’t act surprised that they’ve made themselves a target of shoppers refusing to support anti-American businesses. 🎯

I used to shop there regularly because I was supporting a MN company, and because F Wal-Mart. What this boycott showed me was, how easy it is to just...not need Target.

Honestly it’s been 7 months. That makes him the fall guy. They could have reversed course at any time. I’m never going back.

The crazy thing is, I never really shopped there at all, until they had that period a while back where we are going to focus on presenting ourselves as someone who helps, we are the good guys. Then they 180's with their anti dei bullshit, and basically crapped on multiple demographics.

Not trust they are going to get back without substantial work. They worked for YEARS to be the anti-walmart, and the result was that by and large people would tolerate slightly higher prices to shop at a 'good place'. Then they went full dumbass.

And like PBS, I would like Target to apologize for actions regarding DEI and I'd like them to reinstitute and re-establish before I'm going to do business with either. I can do without the apology frankly. The other stuff is important. @pbs.org

This. I was a HUGE Target shopper … I was among those stereotypes who went in for “one thing” and came out with bags of stuff I “didn’t know I needed.” It was also my go-to shop for online/drive-up orders for so many food, personal and household products, etc. 1/

Had almost everything I needed/wanted in one store, so it was super convenient to swing by to pick up in one go. I haven’t set foot in Target since that Friday in January. It’s forced me to now shop multiple places (which was a PITA at first, trying to find some products) … 2/

but eventually I tracked down alternate stores for everything but a couple of Target brand food items I love (but, honestly, can easily live without). It’s weird driving by Targets now … a bit of wistful nostalgia, but life has gone on. (And live in Target’s hometown!)

It does make a difference. It takes time. Several companies are taking hits to profits. I check product manufacturers. When grocery shopping I ask random shoppers if they’ve found any price reductions. Trying to get them to pay attention. Most are aware and not happy.

Van Leeuwen ice cream at Target is $5.49 a carton vs $7.99 at Whole Foods. So I stop in and buy two.......on my way home from Whole Foods.

Also, ousting the CEO is just ousting the CEO and doesn't mean they'll go back to valuing a DEI program. Unless the new leader makes a loud statement about how wrong it was to cave to Trump, it'll likely be business as usual...

MAGA folks were already boycotting Target because of Pride month and a bullshit story about “disrespecting troops.” Plus, Targets are in more urban areas, not small towns. Target shot themselves in the foot here for no discernible reason. I like the store, but FAFO.

I don't spend that much, but much the same happened with me in regards to Amazon a few years ago. His labor relations and what he did to The Post put me permanently off him. I've no time for things that cozy up to Trump.

what’s interesting to me is that in Boulder anyway I think Target was always very welcoming to the queer community and others …so they need to stand up and issue a firm new policy
