at my dad's he told me all about every tree in his back yard, and one of his maple trees has tar spot, so he told me ALL about tar spot several times then his memory slipped and he told me he'd climbed to the top of every tree they have "you shouldn't have trees unless you have climbed them all"
A tree loving elder I knew used to say every tree in parks and woods should have plaques with the name of the trees on them so kids would grow up being able to identify them. "parents could play a game. Here's a list of eight trees, go find them!" I maintain this is still a great idea.
I love this, but I love trees too. 💜
It is a crying shame that when we go on nature walks and a kid asks what's that tree, or what's that flower, almost none of us know for sure 😕
He came from generations of farmers. When I was a kid he would point to an orchard and say, "see how those tree branches look like pipe cleaners? Those are prune trees." whenever we pass orchards on our trips I think, "Dad could tell me what they were growing."

he also told me it was a pool of ink under the tree that was making the leaves spotty and then he chuckled then he told me it was a fungus and the tree should have died but is a survivor we talked a lot about that maple
spotty maple the weird thing is they have two other maples and neither of them have tar spot, just this one this is the polka dot maple I guess
