Developing late onset gluten/lactose intolerance (not celiac), any dining other than home is avoided. The fatigue alone is not worth it.

SAME. GF being a bit of a fad diet as well has been a real monkey’s paw. There’s a lot more awareness and options now but it’s harder to be taken seriously when you have essentially an allergy to it and need proper allergen protocols

YES! People in restaurants that are SO amazing about this: people who say, "ah yes my spouse/cousin/kid is celiac, so I know."

Yes! Celiacs having each others back even through social networks The funniest/worst response I’ve ever gotten: Barista asked if I wanted food with my drink, I asked if they had anything gluten free, they turned around and asked the other barista, “Do we have anything vegan?” 🤦‍♀️

I have experienced that too! "Is this gluten free?" "yes, it's vegan [or keto or paleo]." me: uhh

on the flip side, I have stood in bakeries saying, "wait, this is ALL safe? I can eat any of this?" and "I could hug you right now" i once cried because i found a gluten free pecan pie right before christmas
