I was told not to eat soft cheese, lunch meat, or sushi. Or clean the cat box. I don't think it occurred to anyone at the time that I would be dumb enough to drink raw milk or, like, eat roadkill.

And to be clear, I'm a fairly risk-tolerant eater. I eat a lot of sushi. I do oysters and steak tartare and I eat cookie dough when I'm baking. But not when I'm pregnant, and I don't feed that stuff to little kids and babies!

The risk is waste contamination, so it is really the outside shells of the eggs and the flour that could be contaminated from animal waste. Store eggs are washed and low risk. www.eatingwell.com/surprising-i...
