We are a nonparticipating state. The last time Abbot was elected was 2022. He faced Beto O'Rourke. Turnout was < 45.7%. For Trump v. Harris in 2024, the % of registered TX voters who cast ballots was 61%. But, yes, even with that, Ds should have 45% of the Congressional districts, not 20%.

Texas doesn't register voters by party. We extrapolate party affiliation by primary voting numbers, which is inexact because a lot of TX Dems are "I don't care who the Dem nominee is. I'm going to vote for the least offensive GOP nominee." And in a good year 15% of voters vote in primaries.
