Electricity is very expensive in Hawaii. Our home is fitted with solar panels which power the house and recharge both our battery backup system and our EV. Any excess electricity is sent to the grid. The State is moving toward conversion to renewable fuels and is fully is committed to the future.

I put solar on my house last summer and have two Powerwall batteries as well. I haven't had an electric bill since, and that includes five days when the power was shut off during the wildfires. Everyone should do this if possible.
I'd love to, but I suspect the cost of entry is beyond my reach financially. :(
