White America was too afraid to ask if they had sufficient merit to retain power. So 77 million Americans decided no one else should have any say in the matter. It will take another civil war to reverse that decision.

A complete anachronistic opinion. They only beat the British Monarchy because the Brits had more important enemies in Europe. The Confederacy was beaten militarily but was let to live politically and socially and the US sold goods and supplies to the Nazis until 1941.
