Safer to use the "I was once a smoker" reason. Fascists will target autistic people as well.

I'm not interested in being safe, but I would encourage people that feel unsafe to do what they need to do. I don't need to argue because I'm 65 and for whatever magic reason that's the number where you don't need an excuse.
