Indeed. I will always pop my feet in after a long hike, but not brave enough to go all the way in. Look at the snow and glaciers melting directly into the water, you know the temperature.

Crater Lakes, two Alpine lakes in James Peak Wilderness area NW of Denver, just below the Continental Divide, at 10,600 ft elevation. The 6 mile RR Moffat Tunnel runs directly under these lakes, and connects the Colorado Front Range with the Western Slope. 3.5 mile hike from the tunnel East Portal.

I've jumped into June Lake in the Eastern Sierras not far from Yosemite...it was snow runoff as this pic appears to be, and I assure you I jumped back out!

Can confirm! My sister and I jumped into the neighboring Silver Lake and we hauled ass outta there. Then we didn't learn and did the same for June 😅
