I recalled someone who tweeted that the judge at their trial was corrupt. The judge didn't want them recalled but I took that as a breach of this licence condition (a) be of good behaviour and not behave in a way which undermines the purpose of the licence period and back to prison they went.

And she pleaded guilty. The sentence was in line with guidelines. Now out on parole, she clearly hasn't leant anything during her spell inside.
Not only did she plead guilty, but she also admitted the aggravating features which gave her such a long sentence. She then tried to deny that she had admitted it, but the Court of Appeal thought she was not telling the truth.

Zero sympathy for her, but I think she was made an example of, at least to some extent. Of course the more scummy media and politicians will exploit that to the greatest extent they can. Best way to counter is for Labour to do a good job. Lots of improvement and identifiable principles are needed.

If someone pleads guilty, they don't need to be tried, with a jury. It's a different system. In the rape cases you're talking about, the alleged perpetrator has pleaded not guilty.
