Beautiful images, Janet!
Beautiful images, Janet!
Thanks so much. They are such pretty birds
What a great yard bird!
They always impress. The very cold weather has brought in lots of birds. Did I scatter a bunch of mealworms on the ground to make the pigeons' lives easier? Yes I did
Poor birdies. And humans! Iβm sure they appreciate the extras at the spa.
We'll get through it, but -40 is just too cold
Is it going to warm up any time soon? I hope so for everyoneβs sake
Things should start to improve after tomorrow. Current forecast suggests we'll bounce to +1C by Saturday! What a ride
What a great visitor! They are just gorgeous!
Did some serious damage to that suet block π
π€£ I bet it did! Our suet block is being mostly ignored, but the spreadable suet is going down!
I still haven't tried that spreadable stuff. Need to do that. The block is visited by downy, hairy and occasional flicker but the nuthatches don't seem to care about it
I havenβt seen a hairy or a flicker yet this winter, but the downies and nuthatches love the spreadable. Itβs more work though β¦ with all that spreadingπ€£ I should put the suet block out in the open instead of by a trunk.
yellow-shafted!
So much yellow
that LIGHT tho!! Woohoo!
Thanks. I think the secret sauce here is Kitchen Window Filterβ’οΈ π€£
Always!
Mr Fancy Pants! π
I think he stopped in to thank you for the great suet feeder. Heβs getting use of the tail rest/balancer! Great set Janet and Mr Fancy Pants!
The tail prop is so helpful for all the woodpecker friends
I thought they just liked being upside down at the hummingbird feeders! I'm gonna try to figure out a tail prop
Such a lovely bird! We've had one as a bird feeder regular this year, recently joined by a red-headed woodpecker
Oooo read-headed. That is my Most Wanted bird. I dream of seeing one
We've been here 33 years and this was a first for our 35 acres
What a gift
I love the Northern Flicker when I hear them hammering away on something metal to attract a mate I know spring is in the air πβ€οΈ
A sure sign
Had 2 in my backyard too for the count. First time. Such a cool bird.
π sick of doing dishes so leftovers for supper!
Lucky you! I had a new visitor too but it took off before I could get a shot of the white breasted nuthatch!
Nice one! Ours made a brief appearance as well. Sneaky little so-and-so π
I had it drop by 2 days in a row! First time that has ever happened
Yank yank yank. Music to my ears
Fancy yellow lining on his tailcoatπ
So fancy
He's so pretty! One finally walked around last week at the edge of the yard, but didn't come near the feeders. I'm happy just to have those photos.
Every time one visits is a special occasion!
You hear that call, wonder what is that?! Check and find out it's a Flicker in a leafy tree. Until it decides to check out your yummy no pesticide or fertilizer bugs.
So handsome.
Moustache and polkadots. He's got it all π
I love how some of the polkas are heart shaped π€
They are perfect
Mourning doves have fancy dots, too
Yes they do
Pretty boy! Our flickers around here are red-shafted, so it's cool to see the ones with the yellow tails. Also like his little defiant cloud of steam.
We get yellow-red intergrades here too, which are pretty interesting. Flickers are a rainbow π π
