Any time with one of the local ospreys is time well spent. Two snapshots of this beauty mid-hover as it scans the water below for fish #birds

Large brown and white raptor against a clear blue sky. Bird has head down watching the river below for fish and with wings down, its head is obscured. It has a silver leg band. Same bird now hovering with wings held up, feet down and still looking down at the water as it hunts for fish.

I think osprey was noticing that the pelicans and cormorants were busy so… must be fish! No luck on reading the band but that would be so awesome. I think I’d need to be a LOT closer

I would think hanging near those fishing experts would be the smart plan! It would be cool but yeah, it would need to be pretty close and it would probably need to rotate its leg so you could get it all.

We have a nest near our house and I saw an Osprey vs Raven war one afternoon, it was the highlight of my year!

It is. Spending time with migrating Osprey is also time well spent, but will trigger feelings is nostalgia and impermanence of the seasons.
