A badly-scanned, crunchy-looking, amateurish grayscale reference drawing of an old Fullmetal Alchemist OC, dated 2006. You can see where parts of the drawing were repeatedly erased, leaving torn up paper texture and old smears of graphite—especially around the hands, as one would expect. There are random bits of blocky white on the right side of the paper. (I think I had tried to clean up the dirty, crinkled paper texture but didn't know how?? Or maybe I was blocking out text. I really don't remember.) Her name was Catherine. She had long, muted blonde hair with choppy bangs, blue eyes, a blue off-shoulder shirt with long sleeves, white gloves, a silver chain with two dented and tarnished dog tags around her neck, and black leather belt, pants, and buckled boots. She was essentially just a colour and gender-swapped Edward Elric without the automail. Who he was also in love with, obviously. Catherine again. A bust shot of her grinning happily. I actually forgot she had little hoop earrings. Drawn with ball point pen on cardboard?? Dated 2006. Catherine again, dated around a year later in 2007. She's actually inked and properly scanned this time! You can see I was starting to develop a bit of my own style at this point, though I was still definitely referencing FMA03. A semi-action shot of her cockily transmuting a sword with little sparks of energy arcing off the blade. Also a poor foreshortening attempt with one arm and hand extending toward the viewer, while the arm holding the sword is pulled up and back behind her. I evidently had no desire to draw her boots, as she's cropped just below the knees. To the left side of her is text that reads: Catherine again. In colour this time! (I think this was a profile pic/avatar??) The world's most basic chibi. Also baby's first digital art—Drawn with a mouse, of course, because I absolutely did not know tablets existed in 2007.

Hahah, thanks! These old pieces haven't seen the light of day in many years, (and you can just tell I was still very much a learning artist back then.) I still consider Fullmetal Alchemist to be one of my favourite series of all time though, so I do still think of this gal now and again.
