I've already seen observers comment on the paper thin and self-contradictory nature of this indictment, but maybe that misses the point. Scaring other judges into affirmatively assisting ICE to avoid the threat of arrest is one obvious possible motive for a thin but glitzy indictment. It's a warning

Exactly my point. The logic tree with criminal enforcement starts with, “Did you convince a judge to issue a warrant from the bench? Can you show me that warrant?” If no, do not pass go. Sending those morons to the senior judge was a smart move. It shows she knows and practiced the law.
