My grandpa is Italian and our "family dish" is a risotto we call lazott. Italians have rice dishes! She's missing out. (Yes we also make raviolis and pizzelles )

I asked her about it and she said those are mostly a northern Italy thing. Her family is Sicilian and apparently rice isn't as big a thing there
