obviously i have a soft spot for USA, because you have a peaceful while to build up (and also learn the ropes of the system), and you basically can't get beaten by the axis you've got a lot of room to err, here

but any of the axis powers will get you into the war a lot faster. personally i have a soft spot for japan, but people tend to recommend italy or germany
