Yeah but I don’t think people are saying it for strategic reasons. They’re saying it because it’s true and they’re pissed (FWIW I would still vote for Newsom in the general, though I don’t begrudge anyone who wouldn’t)

right, but...if they think it's important, it might be worthwhile to try to focus on boosting a candidate they like and convincing mainstream Ds to vote for that candidate, right?

also, people do in fact tend to pitch it as strategic. (I won't vote for newsom and no one else will vote for newsom so you should not vote for newsom) and as I said, I think that's pretty counterproductive.

If it’s pitched as strategic, fair enough. I haven’t seen that as much so much as people just reacting to whatever transphobic thing he’s done most recently
