Good point, but the fact that the race - by virtually every poll - was a dead heat going into Election Day. That made it possible to manipulate the few votes needed to put Trump over. And bomb threats to Blue voting precincts coming out of Russia. But the polls were too close:

I teach at a university, and through the fall of 2024, I tried to rally my students to vote, esp if from swing states. I could clearly see most of them - including trans, Latino and Black students - tuning me out. 18-29 then turned out at lower rates than in 2020. That will always blow my mind.

I don't know (wish I did). But I do know that my recently graduated seniors are not getting any jobs, the trans students are now very afraid, the Latino students are looking over their shoulders, and the Black students expect to lose rights. In Fall 2024, they didn't care to engage. I bored them. 🤷♂️

And I should mention I did not *ever* advocate any candidate - I only urged them to vote, and make a difference. Despite Maga accusations that professors push their views, we really don't. We just try to get them to engage in critical thinking based on the facts that are (widely) available.

Yep. But even in gerrymandered TX, a combination of R's not turning out because they are disillusioned, Independents swinging Blue, and D's turning out in force will make it very hard for R's to pull it off. If polls have D's +12 going in, and then R's claim victory, lots of unrest comes next.

💯 Unlike people in Russia, Hungary, Argentina, etc., who have mostly lived under authoritarianism, most Americans are starting to get a taste of what a lot of them *thought* they wanted, and they don't like it.

Ppl underestimate how much rage Americans have. We are perceived as lazy fat & dumb. Really we are a reflection of all of humanity, we represent the entire planet from shore to shore. It makes sense that American hedgemony would be the first sacrifice on the alter of the Network State.
