Here’s the thing: JD converted to Catholicism from Protestantism. Doing so has already cost him so much credibility within the Christian Right, because while Catholics are a large portion of the bloc absolutely no one else in the bloc trusts them.

Even agnostic Cheetodust Dingleberry has more credibility than a Catholic within Christian nationalism, because Cheetodust is a blank slate they can project onto the way Dr Dobson was for Evangelicals. As a Catholic, Mr Cushions took a specific position and took that power away from himself.
