I saw their van in town today and am now realizing I should have followed my first instinct and stalked the driver to wherever they were going 😮💨 (If you're not Canadian, buttertarts are a delicious pastry, the ones with walnuts are the best.)

I had to check up on butter tarts - there is a caveat that they are not Lancashire (UK) butter pies, which was obvious; however, I'm sure I met something similar there years ago - so many sweet pastry specialities used to exist there under a variety of names.

Butter tarts are uniquely Canadian, but I would suspect there is a descendent link there They are VERY sweet, but when made properly not cloyingly so I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but I love a butter tart The corner store here used to make fantastic ones before ownership changed 👎
