Not only can I buy wine in the grocery store now, I can buy marijuana, too. But not in the grocery store. In the same city where Focus on the Family was founded.

Here in Ontario, we have the LCBO, which sells every type of liquor, open every day. We also have *The Beer Store* (self-explanatory). Also, weed has been legal in Canada for years - you see Cannabis stores pretty much on every block (which put dealers out of business 😜).
Yeah one would think at this point the sensible thing would be to legalize due to at the very least taxation purposes but Republicans don't have common sense. There are still some family law judges here who will take away the kids and require mandatory testing if weed turns up in someone's system.
Holy crap, that's nuts. No doubt the government is making bank off the cannabis stores (at least with dealers, you didn't pay tax or have to show ID. Not that I'd know anything about that. 😁).
You read it somewhere. 😉
It’s the Christians. I’m surprised they are not anti coffee.
My old boss told me that when she spent a few weeks in Utah for training, she was going crazy because she couldn't get a drink anywhere. When you live in a very liberal area, it can be shocking to visit a dry area.
That would be the Mormons who the. Have their own soda shop (cough, Swif, cough) just for reasons.
Seriously? Remember the Mormon wives on social media? I guess if you can't drink, you swing. 😂
Yep they own that and a lot of those cookie shops like Crumbl which I think got sued amongst many things for child labor law violations.
That’s a Mormon business? They don’t seem to have an issue with sugar.
Taco - Did you make it to the ROM when you were here? I just got home from seeing an exhibit there. It was so crowded.
Yes. Bonnie and the person went and saw the Holocaust exhibit and another one having to do with colors in nature. And another one of Asian art. All excellent.
I saw the Holocaust exhibit - today was the last day, so maybe that's why it was so crowded. Yeah, the ROM is fantastic.
The owners are Mormon I think there was an IP fight about their business model. My sister's college friend (also Mormon) opened up a very similar business model with a cookie and soda food truck as well.

Wow - I had no idea that cookies could be a viable business.
Those puppies are so sweet, you can only eat a quarter of one.
Swig
They've become like Tim Horton's. One on every corner.
Please don't get me going about Tim Horton's (dreck). They moved into a Starbucks location nearby. That Starbucks was so busy; Tim's, not so much.
I can tolerate their coffee, but they always get my order wrong. But I agree, dreck! I prefer McDonalds. They always get it right. Weird.
You can get a contact high just walking around Toronto! Actually, same in DC.
And NY
Michigan has lots of cannabis stores as well, Minnesota is just starting to implement selling and taxing weed as well.
I was very supportive of legalization because of the taxes it would generate. I don’t smoke but I drink and I think we should pay a tax on these things because they cause health problems and those taxes help fund our “free” healthcare system!
I agree (I don't smoke weed either). What does make me uncomfortable is that you have to show ID, which means the gov't knows if you're buying weed (or gummies or cookies), which you don't need to do when buying alcohol.
I don’t know this. Even for someone who is obviously of age?
That's what I read when they first opened. I'll check with one of my neighbours, who's a regular.
My neighbour makes her own gummies from what they grow in the backyard!
Wow! For her own personal use, or does she sell them?
For her own personal use. Helps her sleep I think. They used to be very against the stuff... not sure when their opinion changed lol.
And we get to collect taxes from the weed. Can't do that with your local dealer. 😎
Ha!
Texas still doesn't allow weed for most cases. I think they were even going to make it harder to get CBD earlier this year but Abbot somehow had enough sense to veto that idiocy.
They were. It would have been a giant mess. The person is kind of considering it for knee pain, but it’s so hit and miss that you just don’t know is in the stuff.
They did it in Alabama….
Yeah. I know it's not supposed to lead to positive of THC on drug tests but I've had clients who have turned up with positives because of some of the more suspect brands.
Yeah, there’s really no standard.
Yeah and sadly I have seen someone turn up positive when they swore all they were using was Delta 8.
I think there are some lotions with CBD oils. I get a pain relief salve from Green Goo. No CBD, but it works really well on my arthritic hands. Might not be strong enough for the person's knee, though. 😢
It’s not so much arthritis as issues with soft tissue from the Tamoxifen that blocks estrogen absorption and also how collagen works.
My nail tech has fought the same thing. Sending good thoughts to your person.
Better than cancer but still not great.
