This phrase is a call to genocide and NO ONE should be endorsing that. As much as you think Israel is causing a genocide, Hamas has been calling for genocide of all Jews since its founding with this phrase. Its hypocritical to condemn one genocide by calling for another genocide.
You clearly misunderstand the application of that slogan. Israel's Zionist gangsters want a Jews-only state from the Jordan to the Meditteranean; some want it from the Euphrates to the Med, including the eastern parts of Egypt.
The Palestinians using that phrase want a democratic state where ALL people living there have voting rights, from the Jordan to the Mediterranean. HAMAS may make claims of 'Jews out', but they speak the voice of 80 years of Zionist genocidal murders.
Palestine can not coexist with a Zionist state because the Zionist state intends to eradicate the Palestinian population. The only solution is a single state where ALL vote and ALL have the SAME rights. End Zionism.
That meaning for the phrase rose to prominence in 2017 when hamas used it in their charter to describe precisely that. It was used by Netanyahu’s Libud party to describe Israel’s borders since 1967. And before that, it was used to describe freedom from British colonialism.
I agree it’s not the best slogan to use commercially because of its reference to both Israeli and Palestinian genocide; but people are trying to reclaim it into something slightly positive. I just hope someone can clarify what they mean by “free” in a third stanza.
