Because all the major political parties have settled on arguing about how bad immigration is rather than whether it is bad you rarely hear the other point of view. The news accepts the premise of the question, as it were.

Even just describing the ECHR, in passing, as enshrining fundamental protections for "everyone in the UK" would couch the story in a hugely different light.
