BREAKING: My HALT Fentanyl Act is now law. It permanently classifies all fentanyl-related substances as Schedule I drugs — giving law enforcement more tools to save lives and get this deadly drug off our streets. This is huge.

Hugely disappointing, lol
Wasn’t illegal fentanyl already….illegal?
@heinrich.senate.gov you fucking twat. Fentanyl has accepted medical uses, it's literally by definition NOT a Schedule 1 drug. so how about you lick this former Combat Medic's fuckin nuts while you fuck yourself. the fucking country is on fire and THIS is what you're focusing on? shitbag.
That’s cool—hospitals could probably use some attention since they actually help treat addiction instead of politicizing mental illness and accomplishing nothing
Wow, that's great, man. Hey while you're at it, could you maybe do something about the illegal corrupt administration currently violating the White House?
Democrats seem to be invested in Republican solutions to all problems, real & imagined.
American doctors and hospitals use tons of fentanyl all the time because it is a very effective drug for surgery and pain and making it illegal would be fucking stupid. Focus on REAL issues, not bullshit that trump pretends is an issue. If you can't stand up to trump and the GOP then resign.
To be more clear: Stop accepting right wing/Republican framing on issues.
Thanks, I’m sure my mother will enjoy dying in agony from cancer.
hey… but i like fentanyl
There seems to be some confusion here between DEA and FDA usage of fentanyl. Fentanyl is still FDA approved for use in medical settings.
How is that different from the way it is today? Isn't it already Schedule 1?
Thanks for good work across the aisle, and kudos to GOP who helped. // Cynically speaking, Americans need all the help they can get to keep from killing themselves.
Nope, wrong. Stop this dumbassery. Doubling down on the drug war just causes more death. We need less drug enforcement, legalize & liberalize all drugs.
It's crazy, because we have literal mountains of evidence of the failure of the war on drugs....but even our "liberal" party just keeps repeating the same failed polices, over and over and over. Like, we've had THREE drug epidemics since the War on Drugs (Crack, opioids, and Fentanyl)
If anything, there seems to be greater correlation between mass incarceration and HIGHER drug use....
Specifically, all *illicit* fentanyl-related substances. Not sure why this was necessary, as there was already prosecution for selling components of fentanyl, or using tech for masking the chemical structures of precursors. Defining it isn't the problem - science can do that.
What would really improve the situation would be more treatment centres for addicts and more research into addiction, both of which the current administration is opposed to.
Moronic. The drug of choice for flight nurses with trauma patients, an effective transdermal medication for chronic or end-stage pain, used by anesthesiologists for decades safely. Where did you go to med school? The DEA has eliminated so many effective pain meds people are dying.
You're screwing over pain patients while Trump destroys democracy. Great job, Senator.
Schedule I drugs are drugs with no accepted medical use. Fentanyl has accepted medical uses, you asshole. What the fuck are you doing to trauma patients and end of life care for people in agony? You are abusing the classification system.
Drug criminalization increases overdose risk, drains community resources, and creates instability.
🤦♂️
Fake ass bullshit.
Yikes. This…is not it.
