Today I offered an amendment to require Interior and the Forest Service to hire and maintain a workable minimum number of full-time employees to actually be able to manage wildfire preparedness, suppression, and other mission critical support. Republicans rejected it.

Thank you Senator Heinrich. The Republican party is destroying everything that is great about this country. Our services keep getting reduced, yet we are still paying the same taxes. The money wasted on ICE and immigrant detention could be much better spent on services Americans need.
Perhaps these congress critters need to come put out the Dragon Bravo Fire, which is now the largest fire in the National Park system.
Keep making them reject reasonable things. Every day.
And they will say the FS is failing at wildfire duties while underfunding necessary programs, eliminating critical positions, and pushing forward with the ill-conceived reorganization the Ag Sec announced today.
If their own constituents would realize the price they'd pay for forest fire consequences downslope, they'd realize how stupid their GOP reps. are.
